I love meeting people from all walks of life, conversing, and embracing our unique and beautiful differences (I have found that through language learning). Volunteering provides me with an opportunity to expand my skill set, gain valuable experience, and give back to the community.

I am a language and culture enthusiast based in Cape Town. My main motivation for language learning is being able to view life (to a limited degree) from the perspective of people who are completely different from me. As both a dedicated nerd and a geek, my free time is spent watching anime and Ghibli movies, reading books about Japan, and calling it language practice. I would love to experience Japan in the future, and perhaps become a localiser.

I’m a software engineer from Pretoria with a background in physics. Outside of my work, I study both Japanese and Korean. In my spare time, I enjoy working on electronics and embedded software projects, as well as going on leisurely hikes with friends. I have a miniature dachshund named Yumi, and I’ve been trying to teach her Japanese, but without much success yet.
